hildren
are a vital and important part of our Meeting community. From birth to
maturity, we try to make them feel as full participants in the
fellowship of our Meeting by guiding their spiritual development and
their understanding of Quaker faith and practice, as well as encouraging
them to be active in Meeting activities. By doing so, they can work on
their social skills in preparation for adulthood as Friends.
Beginning at an early age, pre-schoolers receive loving care and
watchful guidance on Sundays in our nursery so that their parents can
take part in Meeting for Worship with a clear mind and not worry about
their offspring.
As our children grow, they take part in our very active and highly
successful First Day School program. Here, they learn in groups of their
peers about God and Friends. Through a variety of activities ranging
from campouts to taking part in our Christmas Event each December, they
learn to work with others to build relationships.
As they mature, our children become increasingly aware of the world
around them and the responsibilities of membership in the Religious
Society of Friends. Our Young Friends group—Grades 9 through 12—is
very active in service around the area and around the world. This group
plans a large project to developing areas every few years—most
recently they traveled to Costa Rica.
We’re committed to providing the children in our community with a
nurturing, safe and fun environment where they can develop and explore
their spiritual lives. Our children are truly a wonderful gift to our
Meeting.
